Honolulu Plastic Surgeons Explain How to Best Recover from Breast Augmentation Randy Wong, MD on 17 Jan 2018

breast augmentation honoluluHonolulu plastic surgeons are commonly asked to perform breast augmentation, and afterwards the patients are eager to hit the beach and show off their fantastic new curves. However, it is vital to take some time to yourself for recovering after any surgery. If you follow a few simple pieces of advice, you’ll quickly be ready to get back out and enjoying life while showing off your new look.
After plastic surgery in Honolulu, you will need to relax. For the first several weeks after the procedure you should do no heavy lifting. Do not pick up heavy grocery bags, do laundry, or pick up the kids. You may have to ask someone close to you to help you out with chores around the house. A light walk is fine, but be sure not to push yourself too soon, rather, take some time to relax.
When you head home from the procedure, your surgeon will most likely send you home with a surgical bra that you are meant to wear during the initial recovery stage. Wear the bra for as long as your surgeon recommends, then switch to a sports bra or at least one without underwire as your recovery progresses.
During your initial stages of recovery, you must sleep on your back Sleeping on your side or stomach as you recover can cause the implants to become displaced or misshapen. The best way to sleep while you recover, is on your back using an extra pillow or two to raise your head. After the implants have settled into place you can go back to sleeping as you normally have.
Smokers should quit smoking for at least four weeks after surgery, and you should also avoid alcohol during this time. Both substances interfere with the natural healing abilities of your body and prolong recovery. Also, both bad for your health, and this recovery time could prove to be a great time to quit or reduce bad habits.
Perhaps most importantly, you will also need to stay in touch with your surgeon and go to follow-up appointments. This way your doctor can get a good read on how you are recovering and nip any potential complications in the bud. You can also consult with him or her as to when would be a good time to return to normal routines that you have been avoiding while recovering.

The origins of my desire to become a doctor are quite comical when you stop to think about. When I was a child I had to get a shot and due to the amount of squirming and shaking I did to avoid the needle, it broke off in my skin.
